I wish a LOT more businesses would take your advice. Some of your examples of how NOT to treat a prospective customer were DEAD ON. Like the copy machine example, where the girl couldn’t make the copies because the store wasn’t official open, yet. So? How stupid to lose a sale–and a potential long-term customer–all because it’s a few minutes before 9am? Or the example where someone couldn’t get two cups of coffee with their cake because the store was closing in a minute, and coffee would have taken too long. There again, totally stupid. But both of those examples are probably because the owners didn’t want to pay a MINUTE of OVERTIME to those employees, so they set those strict rules.
